Isolationism
Definition: To stay out of foreign affairs
· Don’t follow through, ex economy, non aggression pact with France
· USA helps out with Dawes plan 1924
· Kellogg-Briand Pact 1928
· Remain out of world affairs and the league of nations
· Republic puts an end to it
· USA thought they were superior to a corrupt world
· Still limited immigration especially from asia
· High tariffs
· Does not guarantee any European agreements (America feels she is a peace loving nation, unlike Europe”
· 1933 Use formally recognizes Stalin’s Russia
FUN FACT: The word "isolationist" was used in the Oxford Dictionary for the first time in 1901.

What would america be like if they actually followed through with isolationism? Better or worse?
SUMMARY: In the 1920's the US decided that they were not going to be involved if the worlds affairs. They did this by staying out of The League of Nations, but thats just about all they did. They helped out with the Dawes Plan in 1924 and the Kellogg-Briand Pact in 1928. They US wanted to stay out of the worlds affairs because they thought they were superior, but more often than not they acted against their idea of isolationism.
